Create Canvas....

My craft room is now to a point where I can work in it again. There's still a few things to finish, but those don't impede me creating.

Today, I have a mixed media canvas using DecoArt Media products.  I only used two colors of media paint and one Interference color to create this project!

Supply List
  • 4x12" Canvas or Wood Plaque
  • chicken wire
  • DecoArt Media White Gesso (DMM18)
  • DecoArt Media Modeling Paste (DMM21)
  • DecoArt Media Matte Medium (DMM20)
  • DecoArt Media Crackle Paste (DMM17)
  • DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic Dioxazine Purple (DMFA12)
  • DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic Phthalo Turquoise (DMFA26)
  • DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylic Green Interference (DMFA103)
  • DecoArt Andy Skinner Stencil Burning Rubber (ANDY01)
  • DecoArt Andy Skinner Stencil Serendipity (ANDY104)
  • DecoArt Andy Skinner Stencil Whirlpool (ANDY54)
  • DecoArt Matte Sealer Spray (DAS13)
  • wire cutters
  • sponge
  • 3/4" wash brush
  • palette knife
  • painter's tape
  • stencil brush
All paints and tools available at Cupboard Distributing, www.cdwood.com

When I sat down to do this canvas, I had no plan....  That's why I LOVE mixed media!  I make an initial decision on colors and possible mediums I want to use and I just let the paint or ink flow....

For instance, when I made my initial color selection, I had reds and oranges pulled in addition to the turquoise and purple I had picked.  I also had different stencils picked and sand paste on my craft table that I had intended to use.  It's ok to change your mind!  :)

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day!

I am getting ready to go take my Dad out to an early dinner at his favorite restaurant, Longhorn.  I get my mannerisms, that front tooth gap, and my love of Reds Baseball from my dad.  I was such a tomboy growing up (and still am) and Dad and I were always playing baseball in the backyard or video games like Dr. Mario together.  I always look forward to seeing my Dad.... I'm such a daddy's girl!  ;)

I'm still not able to craft because the craft room is still in the process of being redone....  However, that doesn't mean I'm not planning and sketching projects.

The new catalog has some really adorable stamp sets and one of my favorites is Foxy Friends. This set has so many critters, perfect for almost any type of project. Make your own foxes, squirrels, raccoons, and more using this set.  I can visualize an adorable baby card with this set!  The best thing about Foxy Friends is that there is a matching punch, so no fussy cutting those critters out! Order the Foxy Friends Bundle and save 10%!

Stampin' Up with Lindsey

I will actually be home the WHOLE weekend, so I am planning on hitting the craft room remodel hard!  I'd like to get the painting done.  You'd think it'd take no time at all with as little of a room as it is, but I just don't like painting and it pains me to do it.  BUT I have to get it done!!  Luckily, the hubby said he'd help me, so it shouldn't take too long.

Have a good weekend!

A newbie....

I've recently gotten back into the wonderful world of stamping.  I attend a card club at a friend's house once a month, but, more recently, I have been introduced to Stampin' Up.  (Thanks Susan!) And I am hooked!!  I just love their products, especially those ink colors!!  I love them so much that Susan convinced me it would benefit me to become a Demonstrator.  So I did....

I have a full time job, that I love, and decided to do this not only for the fab discount, but for some extra money for our upcoming European vacation in 2017.  So here we are....

In the future, you will begin to see projects featuring Stampin' Up products alongside my current everyday and mixed media posts.  And maybe, just maybe, I might be able to combine the SU! and the mixed media into some future projects!!  :)

In the meantime, if you want to see the fabulous products Stampin' Up has to offer, including their new catalog releases, feel free to check out my Stampin' Up site.  Click on the link below for more information...

Happy Craftin'!

Feeling old....

I'm feeling a little old at the moment....

Yesterday, I attended my niece's high school graduation on the Ohio State University campus.  She attends a Arts Prep school in Columbus.

I have to say that it was the most enjoyable graduation I have ever attended.  The students there are extremely talented and demonstrated such with some performances during the ceremony.

I can't believe she is old enough to graduate!  She was born my junior year of high school.  (eek!)

I started crying as soon as soon as they started walking out, during some speeches, and of course when she got her diploma.

Where does time go?

Moving on from that emotional moment... (hehe)

I'm in the process of reorganizing the craft room and am searching the internet for ideas to make the room more organized and efficient.  I've been watching TONS of You Tube videos on the subject and have picked up quite a few tips that I am going to use when I do mine.

I have recently been thrown into the world of Stampin Up! and have been buying inks and cardstock left and right.  I have magazine holders from Ikea that I purchased to store the paper in, but I actually needed a 'filing' system to hold the paper when in the holders.  I watched a video by Jennifer McGuire that suggested job ticket holders to store paper, so I ordered a box of those along with the P-Touch label machine she suggested.

Most of the craft rooms in the videos on You Tube seemed to all contain quite a lot of Ikea furniture or organizational items in them.  I have already purchased 3 Ikea office tables for the room and am so excited to get them together and get them in the room.  I have a HUGE list of other Ikea items that plan I on purchasing Memorial Day Weekend.

I hope to have the room sorted, cleaned, painted, and organized by mid June, as my work has a crafty garage sale the last week of June.  I plan on purging a lot, so I want to get that done by then!

I plan on posting pics on my blog once the room is finished, so stay tuned!

A remodel or two...

I've been AWOL from the blog the past few months.  Hubby and I have been doing some remodeling in the house, which took a little longer than originally.

We started on our kitchen in February, with an inkling of what we wanted.  We added a mobile island, as we don't really have a large amount of counter space.  After the selection of the island from Amazon, we began the difficult process of selecting wall color.  We ended up picking a light gray for the walls and a darker gray for the trim and cabinets.  As we both work a lot, it took a LONG time to get the paint on the walls.

So, long story short, we finished the kitchen two weeks ago and I can now cook again.  There's nothing worse than eating fast food, pizza, and PB&J for a few months....  ugh....

The finished product.....

And now we move on to the rest of the house; the upstairs bedrooms will be switched and sorted.  In fact, we have discovered that hubby and I are clothing hoarders and just got rid of 10 bags of old clothes and linens!!  Not letting that happen again!!  :)

The next few weeks will be dedicated to purging, cleaning, and reorganizing the craft room.  We've purchased new tables from Ikea and will go back for more organizational items in a few weeks.

Picking up tables from Ikea...
I plan on having at least three tables, with room for my still-in-the-box Silhouette and my Cricut.  I also have purchased ink organizers from organizemore.com for my Distress Ink and other Ranger Ink.  And since I have just developed an addiction to Stampin' Up!, I will be ordering another ink organizer.  :)

In addition to the reorganization, I plan on purging quite a lot of unused craft supplies.  We have a 'scrapbook garage sale' at my work and I plan on filling a table or two with my supplies.  Then, I can take the money and get MORE, right??

I also plan on painting the walls from a dull white to either aqua or red.  I haven't quite decided yet, but either color will make me happy.

It's time for me to hit the hay... When I get my craft room complete, I will be sure to post pics!

Missing...

It's been a long time since I have had the chance to blog....  I miss it, so here is a brief update....

I got a promotion at work last summer, which, in turn increased my hours and workload.  I've been dealing with some energy issues...  I'm always tired.  Anywho, I've made some changes for the better.  I've given up pop and haven't had a sip since October, which was VERY hard for me.  I've lost 15 pounds since then and once it warms up, I will start walking again with hubby and our friends.

We decided to start redoing our kitchen and that is a HUGE project in and of itself.  We are finishing the paint and then will change the electrical fixtures to match.  So, needless to say, the house is a wreck because everything from the kitchen is now in the living room and craft room.  It should be finished in a week or so.

Sunday I am heading to Vegas for work.  I'll be there for almost a week for the Creative Painting Convention at the Tropicana.  I'm really looking forward to seeing my friends and hanging out in Sin City. It'll be nice to have some sunshine and warmer weather for a bit.

I have some ideas in my head for some new classes that I will be teaching at work.  Stay tuned for some future posts regarding that....

Until then.....  :)
